About S.E.E. Psychotherapy

Hi, I’m Sarah Evert

I’ve worn many hats. You probably know what that’s like! I started my career working with people in high school, their families, and staff. After completing graduate school, I held two positions within the Hennepin County Children and Family services division. When I started to feel pulled towards clinical work I joined a group therapy practice based on a horse farm. In 2022, I took a leap and opened this very office and private practice.  Out of office, I enjoy being active with my family–  playing board games, gardening, and perpetually wish I read more. I play the piano and at one point was not terrible.

My Approach to Therapy

It’s All Relevant

Your Patterns Worked Until They Didn’t

We all form behavioral patterns as a result of our environments. I bet a lot of your achievements are rooted in a desire to succeed. And there’s nothing wrong with that! But here’s where I come in. My practice specializes in that sweet spot between effort and success that’s not sweet at all. Your fear of failure and ignoring your nervous system are preventing you from living fully.

You’d Never Talk to a Friend the Way You Talk to Yourself

In a room full of people, perfectionists are hardest on themselves. Part of therapy is noticing how your inner monologue speaks to you. What are you telling yourself? If it’s common to hear harsh, critical thoughts it makes sense you wouldn’t have a high self-worth. Here’s the good news: noticing is the first step of changing behavior.

I’m Used to Skepticism

Being cautious about therapy is a GOOD THING. Sarah is no stranger to newcomers to therapy and is able to offer a genuine, down-to-earth approach. Whether you enjoy talking about your experiences or are not a verbal communicator, Sarah is a skilled clinician who will anticipate your needs during sessions and offer solutions to creatively approach interventions so that your sessions work for you!

What a Typical Session is Like

Let’s Start With a Beverage

You can ease into the couch, color, fidget with a fidget, or snuggle under a blanket during your session. Coffee, tea, and refreshments are available. I invite you to say it like it is! You may come in with goals in mind, topics to discuss, text messages to read aloud. I’m here for it all.
